Jennifer and I hit it off because we had one thing in common; a love for the little town of Blowing Rock, NC. When we had our first chat over the phone she talked about how many memories this place held for her, her family, and Chris, her fiance. Then she quickly went through their list of favorite restaurants, places to stay, and of course, all of the best spots for mountain views. It was like talking to an old friend, and I loved it.
These two were married at The Green Park Inn, a historic hotel that has been a landmark in Blowing Rock for generations. From the quaint little hallways to the grand front porch, it made a perfect backdrop for this couple’s intimate wedding day. With 7 family members present, they exchanged vows in the library.
I don’t often get to shoot weddings that are this intimate. The concept of a guest list this small is pretty foreign to me, but watching Jennifer and Chris pause in the middle of their wedding day to relax on the Inn’s front porch with their closest family and soak in the mountain air...it was beautiful. They intentionally planned their day to create memories with the people that mattered to them most, and it showed. When I tried to blend into the background, they all pulled me in, making sure I had everything I needed and showing me that classic southern hospitality that makes you feel like part of the family. It was so sweet and refreshing.
We ended our day at Thunder Hill Overlook, where we had just the right mix of sunshine and shade that made for the most beautiful mountain portraits. Jennifer’s colorful bouquet popping off of the lush green background still has me swooning. Also, scroll to the end to see how the weather surprised us all!
Congratulations, Jennifer + Chris! Your wedding day was every bit as amazing as you are. Here’s to the future and many more trips to this beautiful little town!

Jennifer's Dad was with us in spirit. Many of her wedding day details were designed in memory of him, including one of his ties wrapped around her bouquet and a lantern that was lit and placed on the library mantel.
Possibly my favorite photo of the whole day...
Also, do these ladies look like they should be Lilly Pulitzer models or what?!
Y'all are TOO. ADORABLE.
This sweet surprise wrapped up our evening.
